console by Sony Computer Entertainment. The plot follows Joel and Ellie, two
survivors of a plague that turns people into cannibalistic beasts in the United
States.
The game was assigned to Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann in
2009, shortly after the publication of Naughty Dog's previous game, Uncharted
2: Kingdom of Thieves. The relationship between the characters, Troy Baker and
Ashley Johnson, is one of the most important components of the game's plot.
The documentary Planet Earth (2006), the books The Road
(2006), The World Without Us (2007), and City of Thieves (2008), as well as the
films No Country for Old Men (2007) and Gravity (2008), were all influences on
the development of various concepts in The Last of Us (2013). The soundtrack
was composed by Gustavo Santaolalla, Andrew Buresh, Anthony Caruso, and
Jonathan Mayer.
